Return to Work Services
An occupational therapist can complete an employee assessment and provide recommendations for workplace accommodations, if needed, and a return to work plan. This can help to reduce time spent away from work, and decrease insurance costs for the employer.
In some cases, a return to work program starts at home, where OT intervention can assist your employee to develop healthy daily routines that prepare them for a successful return to the workplace.
In addition, an OT can work with your employee to address barriers affecting their return to employment. These may include:
- Conditions such as depression or anxiety
- Physical injuries and chronic pain
- Problems with focus, attention, or short term memory
- Psychosocial and environmental factors.
Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP)
PGAP is a structured 10-week program that assists clients to gradually increase their participation in daily activities, and eventually return to work.
The PGAP provider works to identify and address psychosocial risk factors that may be affecting the client’s rehabilitation progress. They assist clients to organize and plan their daily activities, set personal goals, and problem solve when challenges arise. As the program progresses, clients are encouraged to identify potential challenges they may encounter once they return to work and discuss how these can be addressed using the skills they learned during PGAP.
An initial screening is provided to determine client’s readiness for the program, and a progress report is provided mid-way and at completion. This program may also be used to reduce the effects of disability following injury or illness and increase quality of life. Please call to inquire further and discuss your client’s needs.
